Job Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, assembling, testing, and maintaining advanced electronic and electro-mechanical systems for laboratory and industrial instrumentation. This role requires interpreting engineering documentation, building and troubleshooting prototypes, and performing rigorous testing to validate performance and reliability. The specialist collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure products are manufacturable, serviceable, and compliant with internal quality standards and industry regulations. The position also drives continuous improvement initiatives, supports root cause analysis, and mentors junior team members in best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test electronic circuits, PCB layouts, embedded systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies for new and existing products.
- Assemble and troubleshoot prototypes and PCBA subassemblies, documenting findings and recommending design improvements.
- Perform mechanical assembly, alignment, and integration of precision components and subsystems, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for calibration, assembly, and manufacturing procedures.
- Support internal and external manufacturing operations, including test fixtures, configuration control and maintaining accurate Bills of Material.
- Manage and execute system verification testing ensuring regulatory and industry standards are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review designs, resolve technical challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior technicians and engineers in hands-on best practices and documentation standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in electronic and electro-mechanical design, assembly, and testing, preferably within laboratory or industrial instrumentation.
- Proven track record supporting new product development and production environments.
- Proficiency in electronic design tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD), SMD soldering, and PCBA assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in SMD soldering and PCBA assembly techniques.
- Embedded programming ability (C/C++/C#, Arduino) and relevant software tools a plus.
- Experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies).
- Familiarity with ERP systems, configuration control, and documentation best practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using precision tools and equipment (lathes, milling machines, hand tools).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and collaborate effectively across teams.
