Job Description: 

Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, perform a variety of purchasing related duties required to support component and/or services availability.  Minimize production time and cost by purchasing quality products at minimum cost, with delivery dates to support production.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expedite service-related requirements and purchased parts when scheduled.
  • Purchase goods and services to support production plan, new product development, facilities etc.
  • Maintain status of delivery schedule.
  • Sourcing of suppliers and potential alternatives including the support of engineering work in designing customers solutions in accordance with relevant internal and client procurement procedures.
  • Procurement of materials and services including the preparation of Request for Quotes (RFQ) and execution of Purchase Orders.
  • Negotiate price and lead time insuring compatibility between supplier lead time and internal production schedule.
  • Communication of drawings, specs, or performance reports to suppliers.
  • Lead necessary corrective or improvement actions for specific Suppliers’ PO commitments.
  • Prepare and place purchase orders to vendors, getting delivery commitment from suppliers, negotiating when necessary and appropriate.
  • Update supplier database in the ERP Manufacturing System.
  • Coordinate and implement Engineering Change Orders.
  • Participate in suppliers Quality improvement activities, leading corrective actions on critical supplier issues.
  • Work with Receiving, and Incoming Inspection to expedite urgent material shipments for the Production Floor.
  • Work with our vendors to add more components to consignment, and/or LEAN programs (pull systems, supermarkets, etc.) to allow reduction of inventory according to target.
  • Ensure all associated purchasing records are kept up to date and are fully auditable.
  • Review suggested order reports and complete required requisitions. Obtain quotations from approved vendors and expedite quotes when necessary. Select most appropriate vendor.
  • Receive approval on orders exceeding established dollar maximum.  Enter purchase orders into ERP System.
  • Utilize PC skills requiring experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and other related programs.
  • Some travel may be required.

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in a technical field or supply chain management or equivalent experience.
  • ERP systems experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of inventory management.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $75,000
Salary Maximum:  $85,000
Incentive:  No
