Job Description:
Role Summary:
The primary purpose of the position is to manage and direct all aspects of financial management including daily accounting activities of a team, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasting preparation, management reports as well as the development of internal controls and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for day-to-day finance and accounts operations for the Regional Corporate legal entities in Germany. Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. Supervise the activities of the accounting staff across AR, AP, GL entries, forecasting, budgeting, and payroll.
- Coach and develop the direct reports to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely, and knowledgeable manner.
- Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies to ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping within the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP/HGB) (US and Germany).
- Perform project cost forecasts/budgets, cost tracking, monitoring and controls and work consultatively with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives
- Responsible for timely monthly consolidated financial statements, payments, recharge to AMETEK affiliates, cash-flow management, and revenue recognition reporting for submission to AMETEK stakeholders.
- Maintain SOX compliance across the entity.
- Build partnership relationships with Business Unit employees across Sales, Service and Operations to support the business in achieving its growth objectives.
- Critically review existing process and identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and efficiency. Implement tools which drive efficiency gains and automate processes where it makes sense.
- Coordinate with the Sales Order Processing team on sales order approval, credit limits and improvement of key metrics. Further develop the ERP (Navision) to meet the evolving needs of the business.
- Participate in due diligence and integration activities for new acquisitions; lead the financial integration of any newly acquired business into the AMETEK Germany supported entities.
- Work with Country Manager to prepare the budget for each entity
- Maintain good corporate relations with banking institutions, auditors, and advisors
- Work on special projects as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US and Germany)
- Proven track record as a Financial Controller
- Strong and up to date knowledge and practical application of Accounting Principles and Standards (FRS 102)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills – must enjoy engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Continuous improvement mindset with high attention to detail. Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to function as a team player
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Knowledge of contract and company law, SOX principles and reporting
Education and Experience:
- Completed university degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (e.g., Diplom-Kaufmann/-frau, BWL, VWL)
- Additional professional qualifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter, Steuerberater, Wirtschaftsprüfer, or international certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) are highly valued
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, ideally with leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of German GAAP (HGB), IFRS, and tax regulations
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, DATEV)
- Fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
