Role overview

 

Provide local and remote first line IT infrastructure support to users at the Leicester site and those working remotely. This includes support for user AD accounts, email, laptops, printers, telephones, mobiles and access to file shares.

 

Ensuring the day-to-day running of systems and servers supporting the users.

 

Reporting directly to the IT Systems Specialist.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Identifying faults with PCs so that these can be rectified in a timely manner.
  • Installation and deployment of new PCs/laptops/mobiles.
  • On-premise Active Directory administration.
  • Maintenance of IT equipment to ensure full capability.
  • Ensuring all IT equipment onsite is protected and in compliance with corporate requirements.
  • Internal LAN support and maintenance.
  • Software installation support including O365, SolidWorks and Corporate security tools.
  • Documenting faults for future reference.
  • Documenting software installations to ensure standardisation of future operations.

 

Requirements for Consideration

 

  • EDUCATION – Two years completed of a recognised IT degree course which requires a year placement as part of the final degree assessment. Good standard of education to at least ‘A’ level or equivalent plus English (language) and Mathematics to at least GCSE (Grades 5-9) standard or equivalent.

 

  • A working knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft productivity software (e.g., Office 365) and Active Directory.
  • A working knowledge of Ethernet networking and cable structures.
  • A working knowledge of VPN and WAN technologies (e.g., home broadband internet connections)
  • An understanding of data backup systems.
  • A general understanding of anti-virus systems and the need for keeping these systems running and up to date.
  • Knowledge and experience of PC architecture is needed to understand faults and problems that occur with PCs.
  • A working knowledge of email and the technologies used to facilitate email.
  • Experience of PC repair and software installation.
  • Ability to communicate with a range of different people in different levels of the company and global group.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision.
