Job Description: 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a key member of the software development team this role is responsible and accountable for:
  • The design, development and maintaining of desktop applications and backend services using WPF, C#, .NET Core, following MVVM and other established design patterns.
  • Writing clean, testable code following SOLID principles and best practices.
  • Participating in code reviews, technical discussions and mentoring of junior developers.
  • Working with legacy code where needed and contributing to ongoing modernisation efforts.
  • Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including API documentation, design notes, samples, and user manuals.
  • Identifying, proposing, and adopting emerging technologies and tools to enhance product quality and engineering processes.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering and non engineering teams across India and other global AMETEK locations.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use  cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs. 

 

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Strong knowledge of C#, .NET Core/.NET Framework, and MVVM architecture.
  • Proficiency in XAML, UI controls, data binding, templating, and WPF animations.
  • Experience with multi-threading, async/await, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with unit testing frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, MSTest for desktop applications.
  • Hands-on experience with serial communication, networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and related communication protocols.
  • Experience using Git, and building CI/CD pipelines via TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work effectively.

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Azure or cloud native development patterns.
  • Experience of database development.
  • Development of Web and/or mobile applications
  • Use of Agentic AI tooling for software development
  • Some applied experience with math package e.g. MATLAB, Mathematica etc.
  • Experienced gained in the metrology, precision engineering, machine tool industry or Optics industry.

  • Flexible approach to tasks, investigating problems with an open and enquiring mind.
  • Understand why technology people get out of bed in the morning to come to work.

 

Qualifications or Relevant Work Experience:

  • Good Degree Level education (2:1 or higher) in Software Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent with at least 7 years’ experience in a software engineering role within the .Net ecosystem.

  • Coachable with potential for Principal Software Engineer within 5 years
