Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for supporting continuous Improvement and best practice within our Machine Shop, NPI process and Supply Chain. The role will involve working with all stakeholders both internal and external to maximize efficiency ensuring a cost down and high-quality approach.

To work closely with Research & Development on “Design for Manufacture” to ensure that new products are implemented to best practise using the features on our core machine tools and to drive best practice during production implementation. Introduce standard operating procedures for all aspect of production and ensure process capability whist driving quality throughout

Supporting in making “Make or Buy” decisions on new components

Work on projects using Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve new and existing products, reducing costs, improving the process and quality to agreed time scales and within budget

Provide technical support for our production teams to ensure product quality and operational efficiency are maintained

Support continuous improvement activities utilising the latest lean techniques to drive process improvement and operational objectives, analyse and eliminate root cause of manufacturing issues to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and improve quality

Implement ‘Standard work’, generating & maintaining manufacturing documentation (SOP’s, Routings,)

Investigate new technology for present and future business needs. Identify and implement best practise machine tools and tools to make significant step changes to manufacturing efficiency. Justify capital expenditure as required
Essential:
-
Minimum degree qualification, ideally educated to BSc or MSc or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
-
Experience of:
-
Working closely with Manufacturing cells and Research & Design
-
Using problem solving techniques
-
Delivering quality based solutions for customers
-
-
Technical & problem-solving experience in an electro-mech and manufacturing environment
-
Good time management with a track record of planning / managing projects
-
Significant IT skills, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel at Intermediate level
-
Team player, able to work in a concurrent engineering team
-
Self-motivated and takes ownership with a proactive approach with the ability to work independently, maintain team communication

Handles pressure well, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to learn and develop
Desirable:

Knowledge of Navision ERP/MRP system

Prototyping experience

CNC Machine tool operation and programming skills

Metrology Experience
-
SolidWorks CAD/CAM experience

SolidWorks Manage experience
