Job Description: 

 

Based at our Global Head Office in Leicester, UK, the Director of Sales - EMEA will lead Taylor Hobson’s Sales, Service, Applications and promotional activities across Europe and the wider EMEA region.  The role will manage the sales, service and technical applications teams (total of >35 staff), with 5 country sales managers as direct reports, plus the Distributor network, driving sales growth and sharing best practice across the region.  The role will also be accountable for the EMEA sales budget and opportunity pipeline, including accurate forecasting and business reporting.  

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities/Primary Functions:

  • Achieve business targets including Sales growth and Service delivery in the specified regions and market sectors.
  • Drive partner network performance.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and plans in line with TAYLOR HOBSON’s strategic plan.
  • Leadership, development and mentoring of the Sales, Field Service and Applications teams – maintain succession planning.   

Customers & Partners

  • Support the team in sponsoring Key Accounts as well as “hands on” customer interaction,  identifying and delivering growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate a “hunter” sales culture to identify new customers and markets.
  • Ongoing commercial review, identification and onboarding of Distributors.

Field Service Team

  • Ensure the growth and delivery of the Field Service business, driving aftermarket revenue as well as customer satisfaction.
  • Ongoing commercial and operational review of the Service business, working closely with the Global Service Operations Manager.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Work with the in-house Marcomms team and the sales direct reports to promote the EMEA business
  • Develop and oversee a focused annual marketing plan including Digital Marketing, Events and Tradeshows

Planning & Reporting

  • Develop sales plans and maintain accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts for the EMEA region
  • Harness the CRM system as a management tool and ensure its effective utilization across all teams.
  • Compile a weekly report with progress against the sales plan, forecast updates and relevant market updates.
  • Develop business cases as appropriate to support new initiatives and plans.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to drive for excellence
  • Comfortable working with own initiative and able to make decisions.
  • Teamwork oriented with a collaborative and flexible style.
  • Experience of managing a small to medium sized B2B technical sales operation and team, ideally across EMEA or multiple territories.   Experience of the measurement or scientific instrument industry would be an advantage.
  • Able to demonstrate past success in sales growth and penetrating new markets and customers, ideally with a mix of managing channel sales partners and distributors.   
  • Credible, long term relationship builder with customers, stakeholders and team.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s technical degree (Electrical Electronics, Mechanical, Management Engineering)  or Economics (with a good learning agility).
  • 5-10 years successful track record in industrial B2B sales, ideally in complex capital equipment (Metrology, Bearings, Aerospace, Automotive or Precision Optics markets would be an advantage).
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of several EMEA markets, business practices and cultures, ideally including  France, Germany and Italy.
  • Location: Leicester, UK
  • Computer literate- Strong Microsoft Office Skill (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook), advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Good English language communication skills, verbal and written.  Additional fluency in other European languages would be an advantage.
