Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

Scope of Role
This is a wide and varied role covering Procurement, Component Management, and Commercial activities.
You will take overall responsibility for the team, using your communication and influencing skills to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
You will be responsible for purchasing inventory for the workshop as well as non-stock items required across the business. You will also provide leadership and direction to teams managing component procurement, including spares and repair services for key customer accounts.
You will ensure that workshop procurement and material supply are optimised to achieve the best balance of availability and cost.
You will represent the company in all purchasing matters, both internally and externally.
As a key leader, you will develop talent, inspire and motivate your team, and drive high levels of engagement, always acting professionally and promoting a positive, collaborative approach.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Purchasing
- Manage overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement.
- Set policy and guidelines for delivering cost reduction procurement.
- Analyse market and delivery trends to develop/adapt procurements technologies for those trends
- Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and best value for money.
- Purchase goods, materials, components or services in accordance with specified technical, quality and delivery requirements.
- Support the procurement process to ensure orders are raised accurately and on time to ensure all goods and services are supplied in accordance with customer and company requirements
- Maintain inventory and sufficient stock levels to actively support the workshop facility to meet on time delivery targets and Work Order turnaround time targets.
- Ensure inventory holding is optimized for current capability and meets financial targets on total stock holding.
- Perform regular reviews and follow ups on all key elements of purchasing with special reference to on time delivery, overdue orders, open orders, order acknowledgements, reorder points and delivery forecasts and maintain the ERP system with the current status and expected delivery dates.
- Negotiate improved terms and conditions for the business throughout the supplier base, and identify new supplier opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with key OEM and preferential suppliers to encourage excellent service and favourable price and lead-time commitments, beneficial to Muirhead Avionics.
- Conduct requests for quotation, evaluation, negotiations and sourcing activities
- Drive annual cost down and minimise supplier cost increases
- Ensure compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies and processes.
- Review performance data related to purchasing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide procurement support for new repair capability, and when necessary, participate in make /buy process.
- Assist the engineering team with the costing of spares for engineering projects.
- Ensure full life-cycle strategy and support.
Component Management
- Manage, respond to and follow up on specific major customer pricing and delivery enquiries.
- Manage major customer order books that consist of contracts to supply material and to supply sub contract work order solutions.
- Manage all outsourced repairs and identify repair provider.
- Perform & administrate day to day activities regarding commercial whilst maintaining TRT/KPI’s in accordance with the relevant contracts.
- Maintain relevant customer portals/databases with additions to contract, delivery forecasts, change notes, vendor details and ITAR status.
- Ensure the service provided is efficient and professional and consistent with the customer needs.
Commercial
- You will help identify areas where cost/turnaround time can be reduced in terms of supplier selection and the use of used serviceable material (USM) vs new OEM material across the business.
- Assist Product Team Leaders to manage breakdown spares / breakdown units and play a leading role in the increased use of break down units.
- Be aware of material and labour costs, especially price increases to purchased material and assist Technical Manager to ensure that gross margin is met for each product within their area of responsibility.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director to ensure supplier commitments within Licence Agreements are met (to cover such items as Turnaround Time, stock holdings, Royalties, forecasts, reporting)
- Provide support to the business in regard to analytics, market appraisals, financial returns on future workshop capability projects.
- Attend Trade Shows/Exhibitions and visit vendors and customers as required
