Job Description: 

Job Purpose

To manage the compliance monitoring function, approvals, and systems at Muirhead Avionics, whilst maintaining rigorous compliance with all industry standard regulations and procedures. Including any other aspect of compliance within the current management systems which need to be addressed in a timely and professional manner, to generate and promote a positive Just Safety culture. Including responsibility for the auditing function for the organisation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for compliance management of the organisation against the regulatory approvals, EN 9110, EN 9120, ISO 17025, UK CAA, EASA Part-145 & FAR 145, including overall responsibility for the auditing function for the organisation.

Management of the technical data process used by the organisation.  

Compliance Monitoring

  • Ensure that the activities of the organisation are monitored for compliance with the applicable requirements and any additional requirements as established by the organisation, and that these activities are carried out properly under the supervision of the nominated persons.
  • Ensuring that any maintenance contracted to another maintenance organisation is monitored for compliance with the contract or work order (this task can be delegated).
  • Monitoring the amendment of the organisation’s procedures and standard practices (MOE, including the associated procedure(s)) and their compliance with the current revision of Part-145 plus any other applicable regulatory requirement and guidance material issued by EASA, CAA or FAA.
  • Issue /renewal/cancellation of Part-145 Certifying Staff, Support Staff and individual authorisations.
  • Documenting processes, procedures, local instructions, and forms for the organisation.
  • Responsible for adherence to all industry, quality regulations.
  • To ensure employees have the appropriate training and competence for their role.
  • Ensuring the requirements of the organisation’s safety management system (SMS) remains compliant/effective as per the relevant Part-145 requirements and the company’s SMS manual, this includes chairing the safety action group.

Auditing

  • Manage and maintain an independent audit system to monitor compliance to the Part-145, EN 9110, EN 9120 and ISO 17025 regulations in accordance with the relevant requirements.
  • Implement and maintain an audit plan ensuring compliance against approval needs.
  • Management of external audits from customers, OEMs, certification bodies and airworthiness authorities.
  • Ensure any audit findings are managed and effectively closed out in a timely manner.
  • Establish and lead a feedback process from audit findings into the recurrent training programme and the organisation’s QMS documentation.

    Experience

    • Experience working in UK CAA / EASA / FAA 145 maintenance with a combination of experience in tasks/activities related to maintenance and/or continuing airworthiness management and/or the surveillance of such tasks. (Minimum of five years relevant work experience of which two years must be from the aviation industry in an appropriate position).
    • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (Desirable)
    • Understanding of QMS systems, with the proven ability to review, update and communicate changes to processes and procedures (Essential)
    • EN 9110 experience (ISO 9001 Minimum) (Essential)
    • Internal Auditing (Essential)
    • Problem Solving and Root Cause investigation techniques (Essential) 

      Qualifications:

      • A relevant engineering or technical degree or an engineering qualification (Desirable)
      • Safety Training Including Human Factors (Desirable)
      • Lead Auditor (Essential)
      • Root Cause Analysis (Essential)
      • Knowledge of Hazard Identification and Risk Management (Desirable)
      • UK CAA / EASA 145 Regulations (Essential)
      • Safety Management Systems (SMS) (Desirable)
