Job Description: 

As a Environmental, Health & Safety Manager you will ensure Environmental Health & Safety (E H&S) reporting compliance with regulatory bodies (Environment Agency, Health & Safety Executive). As a member of the internal audit group, the EHS Manager will participate in the development, implementation, and surveillance of the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System. The incumbent will maintain a leadership role in assessing and developing implementation strategies to achieve corporate compliance with emerging regulatory initiatives.

Main Responsibilites

  • Work with employees to conduct Internal Audits, First Aid certifications, and other EHS initiatives
  • Ensure that Environmental Health & Safety processes and documentation are established, implemented and maintained
  • Report to the Management Team on the performance of the management systems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers
  • Work with the Management Team to analyse the results of the statistical data collected and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions
  • Drive processes to establish skills to ensure incidents are effectively investigated, root cause analysis conducted, corrective actions identified and tracked to completion
  • Liaise with the Management Team to ensure employees are appropriately trained regarding health & safety, and environment issues
  • Support other staff members in determining problem causes and effective solutions for corrective or prevention action requests
  • Coordinate and participate in scheduling all internal audit/inspections relating to management systems to ensure their completion, including summarising audit reports and follow up on any outstanding findings
  • Involve in making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legalisation
  • Prepare health and safety strategies and developing internal policies
  • Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Leading in-house training with managers and employees about environmental, health and safety issues and risks
  • Ensuring the safe installation of equipment, using risk-based management
  • Managing and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances
  • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes
  • Effective communication internally and externally.

Experience

  • 3 Years’ experience working in Environmental, Health & safety, understanding of the regulations the regulations.
  • Knowledge of working with hazardous chemicals
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles
  • Sound knowledge of the concepts and principles of health & safety, and environmental management
  • Understanding of policies and procedures; proven ability to communicate and lead and successfully deliver improvement initiatives
  • ISO14001/ISO45001 Experience preferable
  • Auditing internal/External
  • Problem Solving and Root Cause investigation techniques

    • Mask Face Fit (Desirable)
    • Train the Trainer (Desirable)
    • Lead Auditor (Desirable)
    • Internal Auditor (Essential)
    • Recognised professional certification for Environmental, Health & Safety (IQA, IOSH, IEMA, NEBOSH)
