Calibration Technician

Location: Langley, UK
Business Unit: AMETEK MRO – Muirhead Avionics + AVTECH

We are seeking highly motivated Calibration Technicians to join our dedicated team within the calibration laboratory. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring precision, reliability, and compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and UKAS standards. Using accredited and traceable equipment, you will help drive calibration excellence across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of RF and electronic equipment, battery chargers/analysers, and air data test sets using approved procedures and industry-leading metrology practices.
• Accurately complete calibration certificates, documentation, and records.
• Participate in UKAS and accreditation audits to uphold quality and compliance standards.
• Create measurement uncertainty budgets for customer calibrations.
• Diagnose and repair equipment that fails calibration, ensuring it meets required standards before re-calibration.
• Conduct component-level repair to restore full functionality of equipment.

What You Will Bring

• Proven experience as a Calibration Technician, ideally within aerospace, manufacturing, or a similar regulated environment.
• Technical qualification (Degree, HND, or HNC preferred).
• Strong understanding of calibration practices, methodologies, and radio-frequency theories.
• Experience of using specialist equipment e.g. Spectrum analysers, Pulse generators, Oscilloscopes etc. 
• Excellent knowledge of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment at the component level.
• Competence in interpreting circuit diagrams and troubleshooting electronic and radio-frequency circuits.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exceptional quality standards.
• Recognised trade qualification or relevant military training is highly beneficial.
