Job Description: 

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) is a division of AMETEK, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. The Specialty Metal Products division includes seven successful businesses with operating facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, and Malaysia.

 

With a strong focus on safety, the AMETEK Hamilton Precision Metals plant in Lancaster, PA custom re-rolls precision metal strip and foil, including titanium, nickel and nickel-based alloys, stainless steel and super alloys with applications in medical, aerospace, electronics, and process control. We are seeking a safety-conscious, action-oriented Buyer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Operations this role will procure all goods and services for the Hamilton Precision Metals facility with the utmost focus on quality, delivery performance, and cost.  The role will also identify and qualify new suppliers.  

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
  • Convert approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders.
  • Obtain order confirmations from suppliers.
  • Work with Scheduling and Operations to ensure all production needs are achieved.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain price and delivery information. 
  • Communicate with vendors to investigate/resolve discrepant invoices and unbilled purchase receipts.  
  • Participate in departmental projects to reduce costs, improve quality, and on-time delivery.    
  • Support operational excellence cost savings initiatives through the department.        
  • Responsible for continuously investigating new suppliers and qualifying those that can meet or exceed Hamilton Precision Metal’s specifications and expectations. 
  • If required, limited travel to support procurement at other SMP locations.

 

Other duties may include, but are not limted to: 

  • Perform or assist with any departmental operations and workflows to meet production schedules.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Kanban process.
  • Work with accounting department to verify invoices. 
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. 
  • Responsible for ordering all supplies for plant, equipment, and office. 
  • Responsible for coordinating outside service contracts for building and property maintenance. 
  • Update SDS books and logs as required. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements: 

Occasional lifting of lightweight materials, rare lifting of lightweight materials (up to 25 lbs.)  Some pushing & pulling and reaching, continuous sitting, occasionally standing and walking.  Continuous use of computer, keyboard and mouse. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.   

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of procurement and/or supply chain experience, preferred in metals/manufacturing industry. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Microsoft office suite experience.

 

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $75,000
Salary Maximum:  $95,000
Incentive:  No
