Job Title:  FAE - Field Application Engineer (m/f/d)

Location:

Korntal-Munchingen, DE

Business Unit:  FARO Creaform
Posting Date:  Jun 15, 2026
Job Description:

As a FARO CREAFORM Application Engineer in Automated Quality Control (A-QC), you will turn complex inspection challenges into robust robotic 3D scanning solutions—supporting customers and internal teams worldwide. You will lead technical execution from concept to on-site commissioning, ensuring performance, quality, and on-time delivery while maximizing customer satisfaction.

You will collaborate daily with Sales, After-Sales Service, and Creaform’s metrology experts, and partner with the A-QC Operations Manager on strategic initiatives such as knowledge development, process deployment, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on robotics, metrology, customer-facing problem solving, and contributing to next-generation inspection products.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver A‑QC service projects end‑to‑end: develop and optimize robot trajectories, build inspection programs, and support the design and integration of 3D‑scan-ready inspection fixtures;
  • Commission and integrate Creaform robotic inspection cells at customer sites; program robots, perform mechanical assembly, and coordinate third‑party providers when required;
  • Execute validation and acceptance tests after installation, troubleshoot issues, and fine‑tune system performance to meet specifications;
  • Support the sales team with simulations, technical risk assessment, solution definition, customer demonstrations, and technical validations;
  • Train customers and internal teams on automation products, 3D scanning workflows, and related software—sharing best practices and enabling autonomy;
  • Represent Creaform as a technical expert at trade shows, product launches, and customer events (presentations, live demos, and technical Q&A);
  • Support the robotic application after‑sales service team (remote or on‑site) by diagnosing issues, proposing corrective actions, and accelerating time‑to‑resolution;
  • Contribute to new product and feature development by bringing field feedback, validating concepts, and participating in testing and release activities;
  • Create, update, and review technical documentation (procedures, application notes, and training material) to standardize best practices;
  • Design and facilitate hands‑on technical workshops during internal training events to accelerate skills development across the organization

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, automation, robotics, metrology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience);
  • Experience (professional or project-based) with industrial robotics, automation, or motion programming is an asset;
  • Knowledge of metrology, 3D scanning, or inspection workflows (e.g., point clouds, GD&T, inspection reports) is an asset;
  • German proficiency at CEFR C2 / native-level (written and spoken);
  • Fluent in customer-facing situations in German and English: leading technical discussions, delivering demos, and writing clear technical documentation;
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 50%), including customer sites and internal events;

Required profile:

  • Customer-oriented and collaborative—able to build trust with engineers, production teams, and suppliers;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills—comfortable diagnosing root causes in robotics, software, and measurement results;
  • Autonomous and resourceful—takes ownership, learns quickly, and knows when to escalate and align;
  • Organized and pragmatic—able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders in parallel;
  • Adaptable in complex or ambiguous situations—communicates clearly, align expectations, and keeps projects moving forward;
