The Mechanical Engineer will have broad responsibility for designing, developing, and supporting new motor and motor-driven products. You will be leading efforts individually and working with a team to develop concepts for new products, detail them into workable designs, test against requirements, and then work with manufacturing to get into production. Innovation will be critical and you'll get to drive multiple projects at once. In addition to new products, this role will also support existing products where needed around manufacturing issues, re-sourcing, and improvements.
What you will do:

Design motor and blower, pump, and gearmotor assemblies, ranging from customization of existing designs to clean-sheet development

Perform engineering analysis, testing, & utilize technical judgement to ensure product integrity, manufacturability, and suitability for application

Understand market or customer needs, and propose & develop solutions that are differentiated from existing options

Understand manufacturing process to optimize design and to support production development & tool-up

Drive and/or support multiple development efforts running in parallel, at different stages

Understand cost drivers and ability to drive improvements and optimization

Prepare product documentation, either individually or with others, to maintain configuration control, to support manufacturing, or to aid customer understanding

Support manufacturing and customers across multiple, global sites

Support and lead technical efforts around re-sourcing, qualification, and production shifts
What we are looking for:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or similar major, from an accredited college or university, and at least 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: casting, molding, stamping, machining, hobbing, winding, and assembly

Basic understanding of design procedures, applications, selection of appropriate technologies, and confirmation that the project requirements and specifications are met in a timely and cost-effective manner

Knowledge and proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD); SolidWorks preferred

Strong drive to solve problems and sense of ownership to ensure project success

Firm grasp of engineering concepts and excellent math skills, including an ability to apply advanced math principles and statistics to solve problems

Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and suppliers and to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies

Ability to travel domestically and internationally, typically less than 25%

Flexible work hours are sometimes necessary to support customers and suppliers in different time zones
