Join our team as the Director of Engineering, where you’ll lead the charge in developing cutting-edge motors, blowers, pumps, and gearmotors for the Bison product line. This is a high-impact role that blends technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic vision to drive product innovation and support our global manufacturing operations.
This role can be based in either our Kent, OH, Whitsett, NC or St. Charles, IL site.
What You’ll Do:
As the Director of Engineering, you’ll be at the forefront of product development and engineering excellence. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead Innovation: Oversee new product development and engineering for our Bison portfolio, ensuring alignment with market needs and business goals.
- Drive Strategy & Execution: Balance hands-on technical involvement with high-level planning. You’ll be deeply engaged in both the details and the big picture.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Application Engineering, and Operations to bring products from concept to market.
- Champion Project Management: Lead development programs with a focus on scope, risk, schedule, and budget. Your project management skills will be essential.
- Advance R&D: Guide research and development initiatives to stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Optimize Product Value: Lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) efforts to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Support Manufacturing Excellence: Provide technical support to global manufacturing sites, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Lead Global Teams: Manage both on-site and remote engineering teams, vendors, and customers across multiple time zones.
- Ensure Compliance & Quality: Oversee qualification and approval processes for new components, part re-sourcing, and production changes.
- Inspire High Performance: Foster a culture of urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement within your team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, Master’s preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in a related engineering field, ideally with motors, pumps, or gearmotors
- 3+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
- Proven success in project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Strong organizational, communication, and team development skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead global teams and manage complex technical programs
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
