Precitech, a leader in ultra-precision machining solutions, designs and manufactures systems for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding, used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components. Our machines generate rotationally symmetric, asymmetric, freeform, and sculpted geometries with sub-micron form tolerances and nanometer surface finishes.

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the specification, design, and validation of ultra-precision diamond turning machines. This role requires advanced expertise in electrical design and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating across cross-functional teams, including marketing/product managers, application engineering, manufacturing, and service.

 

This senior role will play a pivotal part in advancing Precitech’s product innovation and ensuring that our ultra-precision systems continue to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

What a typical day with us looks like:

 

  • Lead the conceptualization and engineering of innovative electrical systems that meet and exceed customer requirements, while adhering to Machine Safety, EMC, and Low Voltage directives.
  • Drive and facilitate product design reviews, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective and scalable solutions.
  • Design, review, and validate panel layouts, schematics, PCB boards, wire run lists using CAD systems and documentation, including Bills of Materials, specifications, and routing instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, including noise and transients, servo systems, and multi-axis controllers (e.g., PMAC) or other sophisticated electronic equipment.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation by contributing to the development of user manuals and technical documentation, ensuring clarity and usability for end-users and field technicians.
  • Traveling to customer sites up to 10% of the time.

 

You have the profile we are looking for if you: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of work experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on machine control systems and precision manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and deliver results.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach to issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of programming (C, C++, or similar languages) and a strong foundation in data acquisition, analog/digital signal processing, and control systems.

 

You earn points if you:

 

  • Proficiency in MATLAB for complex modeling, data analysis, and simulations.
  • Experience working with third-party agencies to certify products for UL, CSA, and CE.
  • Expertise with amplifiers, filters, encoders, motion controllers, and feedback loops.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for customer site support and collaboration
