Job Description: 

 

We are looking for an applications engineer to work independently, becoming a technical expert in our optical and mechanical metrology systems. They will be challenged to outreach for new opportunities, create technical solutions and expand our business. They will be responsible for proving system capability with sample measurements and live demonstrations, conducting system training, understanding customers’ demands and providing customer support, and communicating through webinars and publications. They must be willing to travel to customer sites in North America up to 70%.

 

ESSENTIAL & DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Skills & Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience (desirable, not required)
    • Comprehensive knowledge in aerospace, bearings, and optic applications.
    • Knowledge and understanding of common aerospace, bearings, and optic designs.
    • Experience and knowledge of current aerospace, bearings, and optics manufacturing methods.
    • Basic knowledge of metrology methods.
  • Strong technical aptitude including:
    • Strong competency in mathematics.
    • Ability to implement technical projects.
    • Competency of physics first principles (especially mechanics and photonics)
  • PC Skills:
    • Ability to diagnose software and general PC issues.
    • Ability to self-learn simple programming.
    • Understanding of fundamental programming concepts.
    • Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong communication skills
    • Experience giving technical presentations.
    • Ability to explain complex topics in clear language.
    • Ability to communicate with different audiences, e.g., technicians, engineers, owners, or researchers, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or greater degree in mechanical engineering, optical engineering, or related & 3+ years of field experience. Or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must have experience in traveling for work.
  • Permanent residents and U.S. Citizens only (company under I.T.A.R regulations). Not able to consider OPT students/graduates.
  • Must work from Ametek Precitech in Keene, NH and live within commuting distance.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs.  The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
