Job Description: 

Position Summary

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. You will also ensure that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage allocated product line portfolio(s), with responsibility for the whole life cycle.
  • Interface with Customers to define products and solutions.
  • Propose/define new technology introductions aligned with customer requirements.
  • Participate in and review bids and proposals in response to RFP’s and RFQ’s.
  • Accountability for decisions on New Product Development investments.
  • Pricing and margin responsibility for product portfolio.
  • Work with Engineering & Program Management during system development to meet customer requirements.
  • Ownership for achieving sales and design win objectives for the product line.
  • Coordination with sales and marketing teams to ensure product line is promoted in marketplace.
  • Generating thought-leadership content to support Marketing initiatives, attending and presenting at industry events, both virtual and in-person.
  • Leadership in coordination with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, and technology.
  • Provide sales support and training.
  • Analyze product reports on product line and business performance.
  • End of life strategy based upon product health and mix within the product portfolio.
  • Up to 20% travel domestically and internationally

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred).
  • 5-8 years of experience with technical project development, including costing management, schedule management, and trade off studies, or
  • 3-5 years of experience creating, positioning, and marketing Rugged COTS products in Product Management

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to build and justify multi-year business cases to the Abaco leadership team.
  • Experience in managing relationships with customers and suppliers and interfacing with leadership within the company.
  • Direct product line management experience.
  • Experience with product concept definition and NPI launches.
  • Experience with embedded electronics and/or software.
  • Working knowledge of typical embedded military applications such as radar, sonar, C4ISR, mission computing, targeting/tracking, electronic warfare, communications, and EO/IR technologies.
  • Mechanical, systems or electrical design experience.
  • Familiarity writing requirements with Military Standards.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Ability to create positive outcomes in an influential leadership position without direct reports.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and customer communication skills.
  • Self-starter, inclusive, highly motivated individual.
