Position Summary: The Director of Program Management is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the organization’s programs/projects, from initiation to completion. This role involves overseeing multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and driving successful outcomes within budget and timeline constraints.  Key elements include an organized, data-driven, hands-on approach, leadership, and overall business acumen.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Develop and implement strategic plans for program execution.
•    Ensure alignment of program goals with organizational objectives.
•    Monitor program performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
•    Provide leadership and direction to program managers and project teams.
•    Identify resource gaps and implement strategies to address them.
•    Monitor and manage risks throughout the program lifecycle – proposal through post-delivery support as required
•    Act as primary liaison between AMETEK/Abaco and the customer to ensure timely, professional response on program/project-related deliverables.
•    Partner with Engineering, Sales, Quality and Production teams to deliver results.
•    Work proactively and provide guidance to internal departments to ensure international, military, and domestic business activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations and contract agreements.
•    Liaise with Sales on negotiation of contractual terms with customers and miscellaneous task related to getting contracts in place including certifications, licenses, and insurance agreements.
•    Effectively communicate, schedule, and ensure execution of program deliverables across internal functional groups.
•    Responsible for program schedules, task prioritization, risk assessment, and customer communication for a variety of programs.
•    Responsible for ensuring contract review is compliant with AS9100 activities.
•    Negotiating with the customer any changes to product requirements.
•    Proactively identify trends/risks/opportunities and recommend actions to ensure the project achieves its commitments. 
•    Controls expenditures within limitations of program funding and project budgets.
•    Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Includes new product developments.
•    Directs integration of technical activities, products, and processes.
•    Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management.
•    Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
•    Maintain accurate documentation of program activities and milestones.
•    Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
•    Assess the impact of changes and implement appropriate measures.
•    Other duties as assigned. 
 

Education and Experience:

•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, project management, engineering or related field.
•    Proven experience in program management, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects from proposal through to post delivery support.
•    Prior experience managing people, motivating teams to project completion. 
•    PMP, PgMP, or other relevant certifications preferred.
•    Prior product design experience preferred.
•    Experience in SAP or other project management methodologies is a plus.
•    Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing of electronics experience is a plus.
 

Qualifications:

•    Effectively incorporates the principles of Program Management into daily activities.
•    Direct product development program management experience, preferably in a defense industry electronic design environment.
•    Demonstrated strong leadership and team management skills.
•    Ability to teach and mentor others in program processes and workflows.
•    Proven ability to drive for results across a variety of programs at various stages of the electronics product lifecycle.
•    Ability to perform basic mathematical and financial calculations relative to pricing, estimating, budgeting, and reporting.
•    Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to organize.
•    Ability to communicate both written and verbally in a clear, polite, and courteous manner to executive level leadership, organizational departments, suppliers, and customers.
•    Strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
•    Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner and on schedule.
•    Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability to deal with changing conditions and requirements.
•    Customer-centric mindset.
