Location:

Hudson, OH, US, 44236

Business Unit:  Process, Measurement & Inspection
Posting Date:  Nov 4, 2026
Job Description:

Alpha Technologies, an AMETEK company, is the world leader in the design, manufacture, service and support of precision rubber and polymer laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition/analysis software systems.

The Business Development Manager will lead a key element of Alpha's long-term growth strategy by generating and developing prospects in adjacent and new market segments for the sales team to convert into opportunities. This high-visibility role will introduce Alpha's brand to target segments, build awareness of the problems our products solve, and fill the pipeline with qualified prospects ahead of the sales team's engagement. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys both the strategic work of identifying and mapping new markets and the hands-on work of prospecting, networking, and building relationships in the field.

Detailed Primary Responsibilities:

  • Generate a consistent pipeline of qualified prospects in new and adjacent markets, coordinating with the America’s sales team on handoff and follow-up
  • Coordinate and lead seminars, conferences, and trade events within assigned regions to raise awareness of the Alpha brand and generate prospect interest
  • Build segmented target account and contact lists for new markets, converting them into marketing qualified leads for the Alpha global sales team
  • Conduct primary and secondary market research to identify and prioritize new market segments with strong growth potential
  • Develop and execute go-to-market plans for new market segments, including target profiles, outreach strategy, and success metrics
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign plans and content that support lead generation and prospect nurturing in target segments
  • Represent Alpha at industry conferences, webinars, and trade seminars, delivering presentations that position Alpha's value proposition to key customers
  • Track and report on prospecting activity and pipeline metrics (leads generated, seminar attendance, conversion to sales opportunity), refining tactics based on results
  • Maintain and manage target accounts and contacts in CRM and prospecting tools
  • Share market insights and trends gathered through prospecting and research with marketing and product teams to inform positioning and roadmap decisions

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required (business, marketing, engineering, or related field)
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a business development, sales, or lead-generation role, ideally in a B2B or industrial market; experience in polymer, composite, elastomer, or related technical industries strongly preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated success building pipeline from scratch — prospecting, cold outreach, networking, and converting contacts into qualified leads
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills; comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiences at conferences, webinars, and trade seminars
  • Ability to learn and articulate a technical value proposition, with support from marketing and product teams; prior exposure to engineered materials or industrial products a plus
  • Experience managing target accounts and contacts in a CRM and prospecting tools
  • Experience planning and executing campaigns or events that generate leads
  • Comfort engaging with technical buyers (engineers, R&D, procurement) and translating market/customer insights back to marketing and product teams
  • Strong project and task management skills
  • Comfort traveling within assigned region to lead seminars and attend industry events
