Job Description:
The Technical Specialist II will be a key technical advisor for Drexelbrook and BW Level products.
This position generates new business and ensures growth of existing accounts for Level products by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned:
Product, Application & Service Support
- Provide expert-level support for Drexelbrook and BW level measurement technologies, including product selection, application guidance, and troubleshooting.
- Apply deep knowledge of level measurement principles, instrumentation, and manufacturing processes to ensure accurate and reliable customer solutions.
- Conduct field support activities—such as application walkdowns, onsite troubleshooting, and customer training—when required.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Respond to customer and representative inquiries within established service-level expectations.
- Build trust and strengthen long-term relationships by providing accurate, timely, and consultative technical guidance.
- Introduce customers to appropriate channel partners and provide those partners with advanced applications support.
Internal Product Development Support
- Translate customer insights, application challenges, and feature requests into clear feedback for Product Management and Engineering.
- Review new product designs for technical feasibility and manufacturability, providing recommendations to improve reliability and ease of assembly.
- Support Operations with training, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives for new and existing products.
Competitive & Industry Research
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of competitive technologies, features, and application strengths to support product crossovers and differentiation efforts
- Provide internal teams with insights that enhance ease of doing business and strengthen AMETEK’s value proposition in the marketplace.
RFQ & Large Project Support
- Review incoming RFQs to identify quotable scope and ensure alignment with application and product capabilities.
- Support the Applications Engineering components of the large-project workflow, including bid-package review and documentation requirements.
- Prepare and coordinate formal quotations, ensuring complete and accurate technical and commercial responses.
Training & Knowledge Development
- Provide feedback to Sales and Product Management regarding training needs across customers, representatives, and internal teams.
- Conduct end-user training, representative education, and train-the-trainer sessions as required.
- Ensure training materials that ensure consistent technical understanding and proper product usage.
Selling Tools & Technical Content
- Create and update application notes, user guides, tech notes, training slides, webinars, and other customer-facing materials.
- Maintain digital and printed collateral—including content for the AMETEK YouTube channel—to support global selling efforts.
- Ensure all technical documentation enhances product understanding and supports informed decision-making by customers and channel partners.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma required; technical degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience considered.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on applications engineering or technical sales experience, ideally with industrial instrumentation or level measurement products.
- Experience working with a manufacturer or manufacturer’s representative in industrial or process markets preferred.
- Demonstrated success supporting complex customer applications, specifying instrumentation, and resolving technical challenges.
- Proficiency interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers, channel partners, and cross‑functional internal teams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments, product assembly, and/or field service activities is advantageous.
- Self‑directed, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment with diverse application challenges.
- Strong user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams; Copilot preferred).
- Previous experience with ERP software (Oracle preferred); CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
