Innovative and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer responsible for developing, testing, and refining mechanical systems and components for industrial sensing technologies. This role involves designing components using various manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, castings, extrusions), applying knowledge of finishes, plating, and surface treatments, and integrating principles of structural analysis, DFM, fluid mechanics, and pneumatics. The engineer will also support testing and fixture design, drive cost reduction initiatives, and collaborate with Manufacturing and Purchasing to meet quality and shipment goals. Ideal candidates will have strong CAD skills, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and a passion for solving complex design challenges.
- Design, build, and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical subassemblies, products, and systems to meet the performance, cost and scheduling requirements as defined by the project team and the company’s goals.
- Design mechanical components, systems and products using SolidWorks (or equivalent) solid modeling software and provide detailed design guidance/recommendations as needed.
- Integrate subassemblies (mechanical and electro-mechanical) into prototype units, support continuing product development, test, system verification, and validation, throughout the development process and into production release.
- Develop qualification test procedures and perform various testing of advanced test equipment, subsystems, circuits, and mechanics for precision test applications. Reviews new designs and defines the manufacturing operational sequence; determines manufacturing routings for each step-in sequence.
- Resolve product nonconformance issues; implement product and process improvement/cost reduction initiatives via Ametek’s CAPA and Engineering Change processes. Structuring of Items, Bills of Materials and Routings using Oracle software.
- Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, standards, and related specifications.
- Process engineering change orders in a timely manner as they are assigned.
- Assist Quality and Materials departments to determine disposition of rejected parts and material.
- Work closely with production departments to resolve manufacturing problems and provide assistance until jobs are running at established production rates.
- Troubleshoot assembly and quality problems.
- Take products through various agency approval requirements such as Hazardous Locations (FM, ATEX, IECEx), NACE, CRN, etc.

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
- 6+ years of related experience.
- Familiarity with mechanical and machine design, stress analysis, weld design, injection molding, castings, fabricated sheet metal, surface finishes, and LEAN manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) and manufacturing database software.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
