ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Performs the setup, operation and tear-down of various winding, coiling and press machines.  Adjustments and measurements may be required during the operation of these machines to ensure quality and accuracy of the finished product.  An applicant with previous heavy machine operator experience would be a good candidate for this position. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Performs machine and/or process operations using basic hand tools and other equipment that may be unique to the application.
  • The machine operator will need to select the correct tools/ dies, install them into the machine and run specific scheduled jobs and changeover jobs when complete.
  • The machine operator must help troubleshoot any issues with the machine and/or tooling and perform minor preventive maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Performs bench-type processes to complete mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools and/or related equipment.
  • Performs assembly operations that are moderately complex, requiring adjusting, fitting, and aligning of components.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Works from engineering drawings and/or specifications to produce certain products.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Inspects and conducts quality control tests on products as needed
  • Keeps the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • May rotate to other workstations in the unit to gain mastery of multiple steps in the production process.
  • Work may involve frequent handling of moderate to heavy components.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate should have at least some experience in operating and setting up engine lathes and punch press machines. 
  • Candidate should also have experience using basic hand tools and assembly equipment.  
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, etc. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and the risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high; ear protection may be required.
