Job Description: 

The Buyer/Planner is capable of planning and purchasing MRO and inventory materials. The buyer is responsible for ensuring parts or materials are available, plans changes for assigned units and coordinates into production when appropriate. The buyer will also provide other support for production and management as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assures that material will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated prices, and meets required quality standards.
  • Responsible for acting on order releases, action and exception messages from the system.
  • Responsible for the analysis of sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items, to meet production schedules.
  • Orders floor stock with shelf-life material for production. Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the business unit.
  • Manages supplier relationships and maintains alternative sources available to provide optimal benefits to the organization
  • Works with engineering on new product introductions, including early supplier involvement and providing material pricing.
  • Performs or coordinates all activity relating to supply base management including request for quotations, PO processing, follow-up DMR's and CA's, and monitoring supplier performance metrics.
  • Receives and reviews purchase / sales orders against current requirements and work in process.
  • Processes termination or cancellation requests from Sales department.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, other purchasing department personnel and production managers on material status and production planning issues.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required and a working knowledge of oracle is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter and independently.
  • APIC certification and/or Lean Manufacturing training is a plus.
  • Some technical knowledge of AMETEK products is a plus.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs.

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $60,000
Salary Maximum:  $80,000
