Job Description: 

 

 

Responsible for assembly and testing of production of products. Ensure that assembly functions are completed in accordance with established safety, quality and production standards and documents. Prepares related documentation, including test procedures, reports and assembly history records. Works on assignments that are difficult, requiring judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations. Works with Engineering on new products and proto-type hardware including manufacturability, work cell, test set-ups and evaluation as well as completing first several builds and updating associated documentation. Able to build all the major higher volume product assemblies and subassemblies.

 

Essential Duties

  • Adhers to all company policies and procedures; maintaining a safe working environment and participating in Safety, Health, and Environmental and Quality programs, trainings, and activities, including wearing required PPE.
  • Immediately reports any safety, quality, production, equipment, and tooling problems as well as any needed maintenance, calibration, or expired material issues.
  • Follows and completes assembly history records to align, fit, and assemble product components using hand tools, power tools and fixtures.
  • Follows and completes test procedures using test stands, instruments and equipment for products.
  • Ensure compliance with by reading and interpreting drawings, parts lists, specifications, assembly history records, and test procedures to inspect, assemble and test products and subassemblies, Updates documentation as necessary.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing to execute production schedule and keep area safe and clean.
  • Identifies and assists with implementation of improvements to safety, quality, productivity and efficiency including: AHRs, test procedures, equipment, tooling and build sequence.
  • Assists with building and setting up new work cells and test set-ups using specialized equipment. 
  • Performs failure evaluation, repairs and rework on product assemblies, subassemblies and components in accordance with standard procedures to meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Conducts tests and records data to assist with Engineering for new products.
  • Conducts Environmental Stress Screening Equipment (ESS): Vibe Table, thermal cycle, etc.
  • Works hand-in-hand with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering by gathering, troubleshooting, using Root Cause Analysis and complying trends on technical data.
  • Determines and assists with development of assembly and test procedures to assist with controlling or modification of the manufacturing and testing processes. 
  • Performs troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on production and testing equipment.
  • Trains multiple Manufacturing Technicians on numerous Product Builds.  

POSITION CRITERIA:

 

Education and Experience:

  • 7 or more years of experience with mechanical and/or electronics assembly.
  • Education: High School degree or equivalent is required. Basic math skills are required, and the candidate must be able to read, write and speak English and follow written and verbal instructions.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Has knowledge of basic mathematics and is able to measure accurately.
  • Experience with Oracle, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Diligence in completing paperwork to ensure traceability.
  • Diligence in keeping area safe and clean per Lean Manufacturing
  • Able to multi-task several complex job duties and assignments.
  • Reads drawings, schematics, diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Experience with assembling and/or testing various mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in production assembly, manufacturing, and test environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, debugging, and assisting with continuous improvement for mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and subassemblies.  
  • Experience handling electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive items and flight hardware handling.
  • Experience with Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD)
  • Experience with Environmental Stress Screening Equipment (ESS): Vibe Table, thermal cycle, etc.
  • Experience with soldering, including J-STD 001 certification.
  • Experience with hydraulics and /or gear and gerotor pumps.
  • Experience with various test equipment: oscilloscopes, power conversion equipment, etc.
  • Experience with basic electrical tests such as continuity and insulation resistance.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Position is subject to ITAR restrictions

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use office equipment and tools repeatedly for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds in the course of normal duties.
  • Ability to see details at close range (near vision).
  • Dexterity for use of tools required for job.

  • Required to work with hazardous chemicals.
  • May be exposed to environment with loud noise and extreme temperatures.
