Reporting to the Director of Operational Excellence, the Industrialization Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the industrialization of our products and sub-assemblies, ensuring a smooth transition between R&D, engineering, methods, and production.
You will be accountable for industrial feasibility, quality, cost, and delivery (QCD). The role involves transversal collaboration with Project Managers and R&D, Methods, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure industrial control and a seamless transition from development to production.
You will oversee and report on industrialization activities and continuously improve the process to increase the reliability of our instruments for customers.
Responsibilities:
The Industrialization Project Manager will:
- Design and Implementation of the Industrialization Process
- Serve as the process owner for industrialization within the CAMECA Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) framework.
- Design, structure, and continuously improve industrialization processes to ensure robustness and repeatability.
- Coordinate the industrialization of product design: participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability (DFM – Design for Manufacturing / DFA – Design for Assembly).
- Lead the implementation and validation of industrial equipment (internal and supplier-based).
- Collaborate with Procurement and Quality to qualify new suppliers and equipment.
- Ensure regulatory and normative requirements are integrated into process design from the outset.
- Planning and Management of Industrialization Projects – From Kick-off to Serial Life
- Manage all phases of industrialization projects: scoping, planning, execution, validation, ramp-up, and transition to full-scale production.
- Support the launch of initial parts or batches through to final industrial validation (e.g., PPAP, initial samples, process capability studies).
- Coordinate internal teams (engineering, methods, quality, production, supply chain) and external partners.
- Identify technical and organizational constraints early and implement corrective action plans.
- Establish project milestones and ensure tracking through structured governance (project reviews, technical committees).
- Lead industrialization projects with internal and external suppliers (production sites, partners, subcontractors).
- Propose global development plans or alternate scenarios when adjustments are needed.
- Supervise qualification and/or validation tests.
- Ensure adherence to deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and applicable references.
- Contribute to component obsolescence management.
- Lead dual sourcing projects.
- Manage project risks (technical, logistical, scheduling) and define mitigation strategies.
- Continuous Improvement: Quality, Cost, and Lead Time
- Participate in technical design reviews (mechanical, electronic) to improve manufacturability and maintainability.
- Identify cost optimization levers (standardization, design-to-cost, process simplification) for production and service activities.
- Drive corrective action plans addressing non-conformities, deviations, and quality issues (e.g., QRQC, 8D, DMAIC), in close collaboration with the Quality team.
- Lead projects to reduce industrialization lead time and improve overall performance (efficiency, cycle time, etc.).
- Promote Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, VSM, SMED, Kaizen) in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in technology watch on processes, tools, and innovative industrial methods.
- Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of industrialization deliverables:
- PFMEA / DFMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
- Control plans
- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Production support documentation
- In collaboration with the Methods team, ensure documents are accessible and up to date in the electronic document management system (EDM).
- Capitalize on lessons learned to enrich internal industrial best practices.
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of industrialization deliverables:
- Communication & Reporting
- Ensure smooth and effective communication among project stakeholders.
- Provide regular reports to management on progress, risks, alerts, and decisions needed.
- Propose key decisions and trade-offs during steering committees.
- Represent the Industrialization function in cross-functional meetings.
