Reporting to the Director of Operational Excellence, the Industrialization Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the industrialization of our products and sub-assemblies, ensuring a smooth transition between R&D, engineering, methods, and production.

You will be accountable for industrial feasibility, quality, cost, and delivery (QCD). The role involves transversal collaboration with Project Managers and R&D, Methods, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure industrial control and a seamless transition from development to production.

You will oversee and report on industrialization activities and continuously improve the process to increase the reliability of our instruments for customers.

Responsibilities:

The Industrialization Project Manager will:

  • Design and Implementation of the Industrialization Process
    • Serve as the process owner for industrialization within the CAMECA Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) framework.
    • Design, structure, and continuously improve industrialization processes to ensure robustness and repeatability.
    • Coordinate the industrialization of product design: participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability (DFM – Design for Manufacturing / DFA – Design for Assembly).
    • Lead the implementation and validation of industrial equipment (internal and supplier-based).
    • Collaborate with Procurement and Quality to qualify new suppliers and equipment.
    • Ensure regulatory and normative requirements are integrated into process design from the outset.
    • Planning and Management of Industrialization Projects – From Kick-off to Serial Life
    • Manage all phases of industrialization projects: scoping, planning, execution, validation, ramp-up, and transition to full-scale production.
    • Support the launch of initial parts or batches through to final industrial validation (e.g., PPAP, initial samples, process capability studies).
    • Coordinate internal teams (engineering, methods, quality, production, supply chain) and external partners.
    • Identify technical and organizational constraints early and implement corrective action plans.
    • Establish project milestones and ensure tracking through structured governance (project reviews, technical committees).
    • Lead industrialization projects with internal and external suppliers (production sites, partners, subcontractors).
      • Propose global development plans or alternate scenarios when adjustments are needed.
      • Supervise qualification and/or validation tests.
      • Ensure adherence to deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and applicable references.
      • Contribute to component obsolescence management.
      • Lead dual sourcing projects.
      • Manage project risks (technical, logistical, scheduling) and define mitigation strategies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Quality, Cost, and Lead Time
    • Participate in technical design reviews (mechanical, electronic) to improve manufacturability and maintainability.
    • Identify cost optimization levers (standardization, design-to-cost, process simplification) for production and service activities.
    • Drive corrective action plans addressing non-conformities, deviations, and quality issues (e.g., QRQC, 8D, DMAIC), in close collaboration with the Quality team.
    • Lead projects to reduce industrialization lead time and improve overall performance (efficiency, cycle time, etc.).
    • Promote Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, VSM, SMED, Kaizen) in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in technology watch on processes, tools, and innovative industrial methods.

  • Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management
    • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of industrialization deliverables:
      • PFMEA / DFMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
      • Control plans
      • SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
      • Production support documentation
    • In collaboration with the Methods team, ensure documents are accessible and up to date in the electronic document management system (EDM).
    • Capitalize on lessons learned to enrich internal industrial best practices.

  • Communication & Reporting
    • Ensure smooth and effective communication among project stakeholders.
    • Provide regular reports to management on progress, risks, alerts, and decisions needed.
    • Propose key decisions and trade-offs during steering committees.
    • Represent the Industrialization function in cross-functional meetings.
