Job Description: 

 

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for leading intricate analyses to ensure our products will meet customer requirements. This role requires rigorous application of structural mechanics while adhering to manufacturing, testing, and quality best practices. The Senior Structural Engineer will engage in problem-solving daily and regularly present results to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform critical thermomechanical analyses of complex aerospace hardware through commercial analysis packages and hand calculations, working closely with the design team to rapidly iterate on new product development
  • Peer review analyses produced by other structures engineers and subcontractors
  • Liaise with customer on heat exchanger requirements
  • Generate technical reviews, reports, and other engineering documentation
  • Champion process improvement activities related to structural analysis
  • Review and approve design changes and test procedures
  • Support disposition of technical issues which occur during manufacturing
  • Support customer reviews and inbound requests
  • Support proposals and future product development

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive experience performing structural analysis for mechanical components (aerospace preferred)
  • Expertise in commercial FEA software packages
  • Expertise in material properties and selection process
  • Knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD software
  • Knowledge of heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Knowledge of drawing ANSI standards and GD&T procedures
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work for prolonged periods on a computer or in a lab environment
  • Ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds

 

Other Requirements:

  • Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a US Citizen or Green card holder.

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $105,000
Salary Maximum:  $150,000
Incentive:  No
