Job Description: 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating second-shift manufacturing operations in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor provides direct leadership to hourly union and/or non-union employees, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and partners closely with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to achieve production goals. The shift schedule aligns with the Garden City facility's second-shift operation 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop production personnel to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and workflow to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure adherence to customer commitments and delivery requirements.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with aerospace industry standards, engineering specifications, work instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address nonconformances, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Review and manage labor utilization, overtime requirements, and staffing needs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, productivity, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to quality and production issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Partner with Engineering, Materials, Planning, and Maintenance teams to resolve production constraints.
  • Maintain accurate production records and shift reports.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in an aerospace, defense, precision machining, metal fabrication, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, routers, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement training.
  • Experience with welding, machining, assembly, brazing, heat transfer products, or precision manufacturing operations.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently walk the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
