Job Title: Division Vice President- Business Unit Controller

The Business Unit (BU) Controller is a key member of the BU Leadership Team and business partner to the BU Manager of Hughes-Treitler-FMH, a multi-site international BU designing and manufacturing critical products for the aerospace industry. In this role you will be responsible for all financial reporting and analysis functions, operations reporting, compliance, and implementation of process improvements for the BU. You will report and explain the monthly financial statements, including forecasts, coordinate initiatives to improve working capital, deliver detailed financial analysis of products and customers, and make recommendations for improved operating results.
How you will make an impact:
- Prepare and present the financial position of the business on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; perform fluctuation variance analyses to explain performance
- Manage the month-end closing process to ensure timely and accurate reporting per AMETEK guidelines; review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
- Analyze trend data in key performance indicators including Revenue, cost of sales, gross profit margin, expenses and working capital; communicate findings and areas for improvement to senior management
- Coordinate the activities of multiple functions involved in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets; report and explain forecasted data (orders, sales, profit and working capital) to senior management
- Present financial BU data regularly to Corporate leadership team with clear explanation and transparency
- Support the evaluation of new product development (NPD) projects to ensure viable business cases exist and returns are maximized and realized
- Support pricing evaluations to ensure proposed contracts are achieving appropriate profitability thresholds
- Work with Operations on the reporting and tracking of key KPI’s, including productivity, operational cost savings, value analysis and value engineering (VAVE), and NPD
- Lead efforts to manage and reduce Working Capital, including Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Accounts Payable, Unbilled Revenue, and Customer Advance Payments; partner with internal management to drive improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper inventory management in relation to valuation (bill of materials, standard costs, and overhead rates), physical count accuracy, and provision for excess & obsolete inventory
- Prepare and review capital expenditure requests; prepare net present value calculations in support
- Ensure compliance with AMETEK accounting policies and procedures; assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and manage departmental training as needed
- Maintain and oversee robust internal controls environment; ensure compliance with quarterly and annual Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements
- Oversee compliance with and support for internal and external audits
- Perform financial due diligence on potential acquisition targets, developing models, and business forecasts, as needed
- Recruit, train, supervise, and develop finance / accounting staff and conducts annual performance evaluations
What you will bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 10+ years financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting, preferably within a multi-site manufacturing environment; thorough knowledge of business finance, financial analysis and modeling; 5-7 years of leadership / management experience
- Public company and M&A experience preferred
- Exposure to, or familiarity with, Department of Defense (DOD) contracting; government contracting a plus
- Strong understanding of US GAAP (including ASC 606 Revenue recognition) and SOX 404 requirements
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, notably Excel (including pivot tables) and PowerPoint; working knowledge of ERP platforms (Oracle); proficient with financial consolidation reporting tools (HFM) and data analytics tools (Power BI)
- Excellent communication across all levels (Business Units, Division, Corporate); ability to present confidently to Executive and/or Senior Divisional Leadership Team; ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently.
- Ability to travel for business unit site visits, operational reviews, and integration sessions (15% travel)
