The Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, inspection, and documentation of aerospace components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a regulated manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. This role supports the production of high-reliability aerospace products and systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble aerospace components, subassemblies, and finished products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and test equipment to complete assigned work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform fitting, drilling, fastening, bonding, and torqueing operations as required.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify product quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Identify and report nonconforming materials, components, or processes.
  • Complete production travelers, inspection records, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Support troubleshooting and rework activities when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles.
  • Follow all company quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, including ITAR compliance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to meet customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical and assembly aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to identify and resolve basic assembly and fit-up issues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certification or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience.
  • Aerospace, defense, medical device, or other high-reliability product experience preferred.
  • Experience working with complex assemblies and engineering documentation is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Manual dexterity required for precision assembly work.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
