Position Summary:
The Project Engineer will be a member of the Project Engineering Team reporting to the Engineering Manager. The Project Engineer is responsible for a wide range of engineering functions involving the design, development, and testing of electro‑mechanical products. Duties include layout, design, assembly, and testing of working models; setup and layout of test procedures; evaluation of test results; preparation of reports, etc. Uses CAD software (Solidworks) to document new designs and incorporate changes to existing product designs. Research vendor-provided solutions for incorporation into designs. Checks completed work of self and other engineers for accuracy. May occasionally make trips to customer locations to resolve engineering problems. Confer with other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information. Works with production on implementation of new products.
Collaborates with the Project Engineering team as well as Sales, Marketing, and Operations Departments, and others on engineering matters of mutual concern. Where appropriate, proposes ways and means to improve operating procedures. Provides technical assistance in documenting engineering changes and creating manufacturing work instructions. Provides hands on support to engineering prototype testing and development when required. Keeps abreast of trends and improvements in the field of engineering and manufacturing through appropriate papers, publications, and outside affiliations.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 1st Shift (7:00am – 3:30pm)
Position reports to: ELC Engineering Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently generate, organize, and maintain new and legacy product data in Project Information Files (PIF).
- Take technical lead in discussions with customers and suppliers regarding assigned projects.
- Responsible for creating and presenting internal initial and final design reviews.
- Work projects by analyzing, defining, and documenting key product design characteristics through design, adherence to specifications, SOW, verification support, and qualification testing.
- Operate electrical lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, stroboscopes, etc.
- Test products to customer specifications accurately within multiple fields of science.
- Create/follow written instructions and procedures correctly. Provide detailed feedback to improve accuracy or usability.
- Utilize computers to generate curves, graphs, plots, and charts characterizing product performance.
- Interpret test results, concisely reporting findings to the entire design team.
- Support new and legacy products and new product introductions with Business Development, Operations and Manufacturing teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as responsibilities necessitate.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Exposure to a laboratory environment and electrical test
- 7-10 years of experience in a related field
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work for prolonged periods on a computer or in a lab environment.
- Ability to move electrical equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to support limited travel to support customers and product testing as needed.
