Position Summary

The Electrical Mechanical Assembler II is responsible for the assembly, integration, testing, and inspection of complex electro-mechanical products and subassemblies used in aerospace and defense applications. This role requires the ability to work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and specifications while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The Assembler II performs moderately complex assembly operations with limited supervision and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet production objectives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble electro-mechanical components, cables, harnesses, connectors, chassis, and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks including fastening, torqueing, bonding, crimping, soldering, and wire routing.
  • Conduct continuity tests, measurements, and functional testing using test equipment.
  • Verify assembly accuracy and identify defects or nonconformances.
  • Complete production documentation and quality records.
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC standards, and ESD procedures.
  • Train and mentor Assembler I personnel as assigned.
  • Consistent quality performance with minimal rework.
  • Ability to independently complete complex assembly tasks.
  • Proficiency reading engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Competence in testing, troubleshooting, and inspection activities.
  • Ability to train and support less experienced assemblers.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 7+ years of electro-mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with assembly tools and measurement devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC J-STD-001 Certification.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with MIL-SPEC requirements.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet production schedules.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Color vision sufficient for wire identification.

 

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and production environment.
  • Use of PPE as required.
  • May require overtime or weekend work.
