Job Summary:

The Director of Quality will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and business leaders across four business segments to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality products on schedule. This role involves developing and executing a strategic approach to validate and uphold quality standards throughout the product lifecycle. The Director will oversee the planning and implementation of quality initiatives related to processes, materials, and finished goods. Leveraging expertise in industrial, electrical, and mechanical engineering, they will establish and refine inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of managers and supervisors overseeing quality, EH&S, and document control functions across multiple sites
  • Ensure consistent product quality across the entire business unit, including Solidstate Controls, Prestolite Power, Power Instruments, ESP/SurgeX, Powervar, and HDR
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Field Service, and Customer Service teams to resolve product and equipment issues
  • Drive Lean Six Sigma initiatives to support continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Lead quality planning and integration for new product development initiatives, ensuring robust design controls, risk mitigation, and seamless transition from concept to commercialization
  • Facilitate initiatives to drive health, safety, and sustainability
  • Standardize and implement best practices to enhance quality processes across the business unit
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects, influencing product architecture from a requirements, quality, and testability perspective
  • Partner with senior management, product management, customers, and engineering teams to define, develop, deliver, and continuously evolve quality engineering plans, and automated/manual tests
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics, risk management, and release readiness
  • Define and track KPIs to drive performance improvements
  • Develop and deliver training to promote quality awareness
  • Lead internal, supplier, and customer audits to ensure compliance
  • Investigate failures, implement corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer feedback (internal and external), and develop systems to limit poor cost of quality
  • Manage supplier quality issues and ensure timely resolution

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in quality management, including Director-level leadership
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI/ASQ/ISO 9001 standards
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools
  • Due to the nature of Power Protection Quality Solutions’ programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code

Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Technical expertise in UPS systems, battery chargers, inverters, and AC/DC power electronics
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety regulations (10CFR50, 10CFR21), ANSI NQA-1, ASME, and EPRI standards
  • Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace
  • Proven success in New Product Introduction (NPI) from a quality, safety, regulatory, and planning perspective
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects and adapt to evolving business needs

This role can be located in either Columbus, OH or Waukegan, IL. Up to 30% travel may be required.

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $130,000
Salary Maximum:  $170,000
