About the Position:
The Navy Nuclear Quality Systems Specialist position is a key member of the Quality Assurance Department. The primary function of this position is to lead and to maintain the day-to-day compliance of Superior Tube’s quality system procedures for Superior Tube’s Navy Nuclear programs. This includes the areas of Navy Nuclear History Books, various Navy Nuclear document and sample submittals, and Navy Nuclear product certification. The Quality Systems Specialist works with the Quality Manager to support Navy Nuclear customer visits and 3rd party audits. The Quality Systems Specialist (Navy Nuclear Products) also provides regular quality system development and improvement suggestions for the Navy Nuclear Programs and assists with maintaining training requirements systems.
This position will also assist with general Quality Systems functions such as product certification, document control, internal auditing, specification review, and others on an as-needed basis.
Roles & Responsibilities- This position has responsibility for:
- Commitment towards safety.
- Provide accurate maintenance of the Quality Management System and Quality Performance reporting for the Navy Nuclear products.
- Provide support to operations with Navy Nuclear product quality certification and release of Navy Nuclear products.
- Prepare for and represent Superior Tube during all Navy Nuclear customer and regulatory audits.
- Responsible for achievement of KPI’s related to safety, maintenance of relevant industry and Navy Nuclear customer certifications, quality history books and/or accreditations.
- Raw material review, release and documentation of Navy Nuclear customer specifications.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement activities for the maintenance of the Navy Nuclear document control system and Navy Nuclear certification process.
- Assist with any employee training for Navy Nuclear quality systems and audits.
- Assist with monitoring overall performance for Navy Nuclear product and quality standards.
- Ensure implementation and compliance of Navy Nuclear quality procedures.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)-
- Experience in quality, quality processes, and maintaining documentation systems, specifically in the defense industry, is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of government, military, defense and/or medical device quality standards.
- Experience in manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
- Must be accurate and have excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with employees, other department managers and senior management.
- Strong computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, etc.) and ERP systems
- Strong decision-making skills and results -driven in order to work under deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as procedures, manuals and correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the manufacturing of high quality, precision metal products.
- Experience in tubing or other precision metal products a plus.
- Auditor for Defense products a plus.
Education Requirements
- High School diploma.
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office environment and speaking to machine operators while they are working on machines on the production floor. The work environment on the production floor is subject to temperature and noise fluctuations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and may also be required to utilize hand tools as needed.
