Job Title: Materials Analyst (2nd shift)

About the Position: Provide timely and accurate test results for mechanical and metallographic tests. These are necessary to support manufacturing by recommending in process sizes and tempers to arrive at desired properties in finished products; initiate and coordinate flow of other laboratory tests; develop and update mechanical test procedures, etc.
Position is for 2nd shift 4pm-midnight Monday-Friday. Weekend overtime is available for coverage if production operations works weekend overtime.
• Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 2 years experience in a metal manufacturing/testing environment

Experience in secondary metal working industry or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Hands on person with strong mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking skills.
-
Capable of processing and properly handling chemical such as acids, alkali and industrial cleaning agents.
-
Ability to develop test procedures and write procedures to meet specific customer requirements.
-
Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft products, as well as programs that process orders, retrieve order history, process history, etc.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Degree or Continuing Education Credits in a science or engineering-related field a plus.

Ability to write test reports covering various technical aspects.

• Contact With Others (Internal/External)

Daily contact with production employees, supervisors, Quality Assurance team, other members of the Lab and engineers

Contact with Sales and Technical Representatives, vendors as required.

Contact with outside laboratories for mechanical, metallographic, or chemical analysis and other related tests, as required.

Occasional interaction with customers and auditors.

Must observe all PPE requirements throughout the production area and Lab.
