Superior Tube Company is seeking a Director, Engineering & Reliability to lead engineering, maintenance, and reliability strategy for its manufacturing operations. This role is a key member of the Operations Leadership Team and is responsible for driving equipment reliability, capital execution, and asset performance to support safe, stable, and profitable operations.

 

The Director, Engineering & Reliability will oversee Facilities Engineering, Capital Projects, and Maintenance, with a strong focus on improving reliability of critical manufacturing assets. This leader will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and EHS to ensure engineering activities are fully aligned with production and business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering, Maintenance & Reliability

  • Lead engineering, maintenance, and reliability functions, including direct oversight of maintenance teams and engineering resources.
  • Develop and execute a site‑wide equipment reliability strategy focused on uptime, asset life, and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Own preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as technical owner for critical manufacturing assets, driving root‑cause problem solving and long‑term reliability improvements.

Capital Projects & Asset Management

  • Plan and execute capital projects to support operational performance, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to assess equipment and project impacts on production capacity, scheduling, and revenue.
  • Ensure capital projects are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve intended operational results.
  • Maintain long‑term asset replacement and capital planning aligned with business needs.

Operations & Business Integration

  • Partner with Operations leadership on production planning and monthly revenue forecasting.
  • Provide equipment readiness and maintenance inputs to short‑ and long‑term operating plans.
  • Participate in operating reviews, providing insight into how reliability and engineering performance affect throughput, revenue, and cost.
  • Balance maintenance requirements with production demands to protect asset integrity while meeting customer commitments.

Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering and maintenance teams, fostering accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, Finance, and New Process Development teams.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

 

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or related discipline) required.
  • Advanced technical or business education preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering and manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in an industrial or highly engineered environment.
  • Proven success leading maintenance, reliability, and capital projects in a manufacturing operation.
  • Strong understanding of equipment reliability, asset lifecycle management, and maintenance systems.
  • Experience working closely with operations teams on production planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross‑functional partners, and deliver measurable business results.

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $150,000
Salary Maximum:  $175,000
Incentive:  Yes
