Job Description: 

Summary:

The employee must be competent to follow simple written procedures for shell and electrode plating.  The employee will work under close supervision with simple oral and written instructions for pre-plate and post-plate clean-up. Work involves placing a proper number of parts in baskets or racks and following steps for immersing the product in chemical baths.  Other work functions include processing products through the cleaning and rinsing tanks and the dryer. 

 

The employee must exercise extreme care during daily functions to avoid damage to shells or electrodes.  The employee will be required to perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned by the Department Supervisor.   

 

Material Handling of (incoming) bulk chemicals in 55-gallon drums or other similar containers. Hazardous waste handling.  

 

Tank additions: Following written instructions from the department supervisor (or others) to make required chemical additions to process solutions.

 

Tank Maintenance:

Following written instructions from the department supervisor (or others) to dispose of and create new process solutions.  General housekeeping in the department is required.

 

All employees must be flexible with job scheduling to meet the overall needs of the company and the plating department.  Working knowledge of bright dipping and electroplating (Au, Cu & Ni) would be helpful but not necessary. Good attendance is required for this position.

 

Safety

All employees must maintain a clean, uncluttered, and safe work environment by observing and practicing high health and safety standards.  This includes wearing appropriate attire, such as protective safety glasses, appropriate closed-toed shoes, and any other safety-required gear where applicable.

 

Skills

            Use of basic inspection equipment                     Basic computer skills

            Able to read gauges and instruments                 Chemical handling safety

            Good eye/hand coordination

 

Education

            High School or Equivalent

 

Competency

            Basic math, reading, and writing, repetitive lifting of 25-50lbs
