Job Description: 

Position Overview: The Tool and Gage Technician will oversee the calibration processes for our measurement and testing equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a background in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operations and management. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, organization, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to quality assurance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the calibration program for all measuring equipment and process control equipment; Gage Recall Management / System Maintenance / GageTrak Database.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and AS9100 standards and industry regulations related to calibration and quality management.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of calibration processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support product development and resolve measurement-related issues.
  • Analyze calibration data and generate reports to track performance metrics and trends.
  • Maintain and update calibration documentation, including procedures, records, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with external calibration service providers as needed to ensure timely and accurate services. Request quotes and request Purchase Orders for same.
  • Stay current with advancements in calibration technology and CMM software used, recommending updates as necessary.
  • Inspection of First Articles and Production Parts as assigned. (e.g.: FAIRs, capability studies, etc.)
  • Inspection of Tools, Fixtures, and gages as assigned.
  • Verify calibration of temperature controllers, rectifiers, pressure gages, etc..

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in calibration.
  • Strong knowledge of measurement principles, calibration standards, and quality control processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with most hand gages and equipment including thread gages.
  • Experience with OMM / CMM software and programming or similar equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Calibration Management or Quality Assurance.
  • Experience with GageTrak software.
  • MicroVu OMM (Optical Measurement Machine) Experience.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Electrical knowledge / experience.
