Job Description:
The Sustaining Engineer reviews new customer orders for release to production, evaluates customer requirements for new and existing designs, and generates engineering documentation to support both new and current products.
What You Will Do:
- Translate product requirements provided by Sales into detailed drawings used for the manufacture of linear and rotary products.
- Prepare and maintain CAD drawings within the PDM environment in accordance with company templates and engineering standards.
- Support manufacturing through the release of documentation, MRP entry and maintenance, and analysis of manufacturing issues; recommend practical solutions as needed.
- Collaborate daily with cross‑functional teams while managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Utilize SolidWorks (2D/3D) or comparable 3D design tools.
- Apply GD&T standards to engineering drawings and documentation.
- Use standard computer applications, including email, Microsoft Word, and Excel (or equivalent).
- Perform hands‑on work as required, including light assembly and use of mechanical hand tools.
- Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills along with clear written and verbal communication.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience using SolidWorks or comparable 3D design software.
- Experience with PDM systems and ERP software such as JDE or equivalent; Product Center experience preferred.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Ability to write clear, concise correspondence and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Working knowledge of mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and the ability to apply reasoning to written, verbal, and diagram‑based instructions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in environments with varying priorities and standardized processes.
Additional Characteristics:
- This position functions as both an individual contributor and a collaborative team member.
- May require standing and/or sitting for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
