Job Description: 

The individual selected for this role assesses credit exposure, accounting, and financial analysis activities, driving accurate reporting, budgeting, and FP&A support, and ensuring compliance and effective cross-functional coordination.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Credit & Risk Management
    • Assist the Credit Manager with customer credit assessments and reviews.
    • Manage payment term setup, collections, cash receipt application, and other credit and collections-related activities.
    • Support customer-based credit risk assessment and ongoing monitoring, while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Production Cost Management
    • Support Project costing and cost estimate variance analysis
    • Perform blended product line gross margin analysis on a monthly / YTD basis
    • Assist with gross margin estimates for Commercial opportunities
  • General Accounting
    • Prepare monthly month-end close journal entries as assigned.
    • Perform balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with the month-end binder.
    • Prepare monthly payroll journals and monthly GST/HST/PST filings.
    • Manage fixed assets, Inter-company transactions, tax installment
  • Reporting
    • Prepare and analyze regular and ad-hoc reports including Capital Expenditure, Cash Management and Cash Receipt Forecasts, Outstanding Accounts Receivable, A/R analysis, intercompany charges, and
    • ccounts payable unvouchered reconciliations.
    • Support additional standard and non-standard reporting requirements for month-end and year-end close.
  • FP&A Support
    • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support operating expense reporting and forecast/budget variance analysis.
    • Support annual budget preparation, including depreciation estimates for demo and fixed assets.
  • Cross-Training & Team Support
    • Cross-train with other accounting team members to support continuous improvement and team coverage.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members.
  • Audit & Compliance
    • Support SOX compliance and internal and external audit activities.
  • Administration
    • Maintain banking wire instructions and coordinates.
    • Administer the Fixed Asset System (FAS), including setup and maintenance.

 

Education / Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in accounting
  • Progress toward professional designation (CPA) is an asset
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience is an asset

 

Skills / Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other financial applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision or SAP is an asset
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines
