SUMMARY:

The Assembler reports to the Manufacturing manager and constructs Western Research products and will troubleshoot & test assembly functions on sub-assemblies, optical assemblies, and final assemblies according to company workmanship standards and specifications. 

 

The position requires competence in reading and interpreting wiring lists, PID drawings, assembly drawings and work orders using visual aids, and schematic diagrams. The individual must possess good manual dexterity and have the ability to use a wide variety of power tools. Attention to detail for completion of appropriate documentation related to product is key. Must be able to work within a team environment and individually with minimal supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Construct/Build/Assemble Western Research products from production plans, wiring diagrams, blueprints, flow diagrams, drawings and other verbal or written instructions.  Such products to include analyzers, printed circuit boards, shelters, rack mount systems and other mechanical, optical, or electronic sub-assemblies.
  • Maintains high standards of work regardless of deadlines: “Do work right, the first time”
  • Trouble shoots in-process testing of product in accordance with assembly work instructions and checklist.
  • Ongoing upkeep of production records, checklists, and assembly work instructions.
  • Updates, maintains, and orders floor supplies.
  • Performs product testing for final assemblies.
  • Responsible for clean personal work areas and cleanliness of general shop area.
  • Maintains shop tasks (tool maintenance, chemical disposal, solvent cleanliness, and shop safety.)
  • Takes initiative for continuing to maintain AMETEK’s stellar Safety record and actively reports all unsafe conditions.
  • Performs a quality check on the finished product and reports all impediments to Q&A
  • Adheres to AMETEK’s internal policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to AMETEK’s Continual Improvement Program
  • Manages all time constraints for assigned tasks and adheres to project deadlines.
  • Instrumental in improving the training curriculum for less experienced assemblers and can provide guidance.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in assembly is required. Experience with optical assembly or troubleshooting is preferred. Technologist Certification in Instrumentation or equivalent will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand drawings, diagrams, schematics including wiring diagrams, layout drawings and flow diagrams.
  • Ability to tube by following PID drawings.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical assembly skills including troubleshooting and reworking.
  • Demonstrated capability to use basic test equipment.
  • Experience using power tools with sufficient manual dexterity is a plus.
  • Excellent comprehension of written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge and use of Calipers and Micrometers for measurement.
  • Proficiency in navigating software and print instructions.
  • Understanding of the Metric and English measurement system.
  • Soldering skills are a plus.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and handle heavy loads with devices such as a pallet jack.
