Job Description: 

The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial statements, managing fixed assets, and driving inventory costing. Working as part of skilled team, the Senior Accountant will support MOCON's month-end closings, forecasting, and budgeting processes, helping the business maintain financial integrity and make informed decisions. This is an integral role within the team which will provide valuable insights that will help guide the company's growth and operational improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Accounting: Develop standard costs, value inventory, conduct cycle counts, analyze production variances, reconcile discrepancies, and lead the annual physical inventory process.
  • Inventory Reserves Analysis: Provide insights on obsolete, slow-moving, and PPV inventory to support materials management and operations.
  • Budget Support: Develop standard overhead rates, manage capital expenditures, and assist operational functions in creating annual spending budgets.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Oversee fixed assets and capital expenditure reporting.
  • ERP System Analysis: Analyze transactions within the ERP system to assess their impact on financial performance.
  • Work In Progress Assessment: Ensure proper allocation of labor and materials, and proactively analyze variance categories such as material usage, purchase price, and freight.
  • Month-End Closing: Execute month-end system closing transactions and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, cost analysis reports, and other management reports to support decision-making.
  • Data Integrity Maintenance: Ensure data consistency within the ERP system and provide support for changes to new or updated information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Finance/Accounting.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial and cost accounting.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with ERP Systems such as SAP, EPICOR, or ORACLE.
  • Effective communication skills, customer orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Well-organized and self-directed with the ability to relate to all levels of an organization.

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $90,000
Salary Maximum:  $110,000
