The Director of Engineering is a key member of the Chandler Engineering leadership team and is responsible for leading the engineering department, overseeing product development, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role reports to the DVP Business Manager and serves as a key member of the leadership team. It offers the opportunity to shape engineering strategy and mentor a high-performing team. Must have extensive experience in engineering leadership and a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the engineering team to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of new products.
  • Support customer engagements and provide technical expertise as needed.
  • Lead and oversee VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) projects to optimize product cost and performance.
  • Manage and document activities related to R&D Tax Credits, ensuring compliance and maximizing available credits.
  • Develop, monitor, and control the R&D budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Sales teams to drive Product Consolidation initiatives, supporting portfolio optimization and market competitiveness.
  • Work closely with Operations to update product designs for insourcing, improving manufacturability and operational efficiency.
  • Some travel required; ability to travel domestically and internationally, valid Driver’s License and Passport preferred.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or PMP certification.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Experience in aerospace or manufacturing industries.
