Job Title: Line Leader, Production and Process Control

Job Purpose
Primarily focussed on the leading, support and control of the production team.
- Organise and actively support the team to fulfil the production requirements, based on the production plan.
- Act as the first point of contact for the production team with technical issues related to tooling or processes.
- Actively work with automated systems to ensure that the production team can deliver the required quality and throughput.
- Act as a point of contact for all staff with production related questions and concerns.
- Support the improvement and introduction of new quality requirements.
- Support the business in ensuring that training is supplied consistently, to a suitable level for all team members.
Principal Accountabilities
- Identify issues or improvement opportunities and propose solutions.
- Act as a point of contact for production team.
- Carry out simple preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and train team members as required.
- Ensure all team members follow Health and Safety procedures, ensure personal and team safety.
- Ensure that suitable training is delivered in a consistent manner.
- Engage team members in a continuous improvement mind-set.
- Attend production and engineering meetings as required to support staff allocation and share information.
- Support daily planning activities / assignment of work stations / monitoring of output / monitoring of quality.
- Actively support and plan cross-training activities to maximise team flexibility and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment based on 5S principles.
- Install a quality first, right first time culture, based on the following of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report on Key Performance Indicators as required to support business planning.
Additional Duties
- Occasional travel to the manufacturing facility in Serbia may be required.
- Occasional travel to suppliers or partners may be required.
- To carry out any other duties which may be reasonably expected of you by your immediate manager or a senior director.
Operating Environment
Alphasense manufactures gas sensors, and optical particle counters.
Alphasense operations and manufacturing are conducted from its bases in Braintree, Essex and Subotica, Serbia.
The majority of Alphasense’s suppliers are based in the UK, although raw materials may be sourced from abroad by those suppliers.
Framework & Boundaries
A degree of both national and international travel may be required.
Any changes to processes, materials or design will be checked and approved before implementation following our quality procedures.
Knowledge and Experience
- Team leadership / team management.
- Attention to detail when following instructions and training team members.
- General MS Office skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with direct stakeholder community
- Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical or similar engineering principles (Degree/HNC or equivalent industry experience suitable)
- Logical and hands on approach to problem solving
- Hands on experience with a range of assembly and fabrication techniques, advantageous
- Experience of machine setting and maintenance advantageous.
- General fault-finding principles in electrical, electronic and mechanical systems advantageous.
- Ability to read an engineering drawing and use measurement devices to verify compliance to design, advantageous.
- Knowledge of statistical process control, advantageous.
