Position Summary

The Production Planner & Administrator will be responsible for the creation of the production schedule and production orders for the manufacturing department. The position will coordinate with the Supply Chain and Sales to align the optimum production plan to meet the customer order requirements and the Solartron Metrology customer service levels.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Manufacturing Orders

  • Manage and maintain the daily routine of MRP run, including the generation and circulation of Production orders, in line with customer delivery dates. Ensure that Production Orders are maintained and working with Production teams modify and amend released orders in line with changing Customer, Operational and Engineering requirements.
  • Monitor production progress to meet the production plan and expedite through production leadership where necessary.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of current systems, processes and practices considering “Best Practices,’ business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

 

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is conducted in a controlled and consistent manner.

 

Communication

  • Communicate with Operations Teams, Production, Purchasing, Machine shop as well as Finance, Engineering and Sales Teams as appropriate.

 

Administration

  • Responsible for the reporting of daily production data as required by the Operations Manager and Management Team.
  • Maintenance and reporting of overdues report to sales offices and Management.
  • Other admin tasks as required.

 

Experience/Qualifications

 

  • GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years work experience in a manufacturing and materials planning environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Evidence of ability to complete tasks to deadlines. 
  • Confidence to question existing practices and make recommendations.
  • Have strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal & influencing skills.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Be analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques.
  • Organised – able to document, handle, prioritise and deal with a high volume of projects and tasks.

 

Desirable Skills

 

  • A-Level /BTEC preferred
  • Previous MRP / ERP experience preferred.
