Job Description: 

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, formulating corrective and preventive actions, and working to implement those actions in order to improve quality levels and customer / standards compliance at the Supplier and within the organization.

 

This position reports directly to the PDS Director of Quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Supplier QA activities relating to Quality Management System Requirements in the facility.
  • Works closely with Receiving Inspection, Operations, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and Development in the assurance that all suppliers are capable of providing materials and services that satisfy AMETEK’s requirements
  • Develop tracking and improvement programs and support plant objectives for quality and continuous improvement through Supplier defects, complaint, and raw material reject analysis.
  • Generate and maintain quality system documentation for all Supplier activities and help develop training to build supplier quality awareness.
  • Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective and preventive actions, employing various quality tools such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and DMAIC, process capability analysis etc. Assist DoQ in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Conduct internal quality system and supplier quality audits.
  • Determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions, in support of materials.
  • Preparation and support of Supplier QA reports, such as Scorecards, SCARs etc
  • Position will provide support for multiple locations for fully PDS support.
  • Evaluate New Suppliers, Create and Maintain Approved Supplier List.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred engineering discipline.
  • 5-7 years’ experience supporting a certified quality management system (ISO, AS 9100, FAA).
  • ASQC certification preferred
  • Proven track record of driving continuous supplier quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
  • Previous work experience in an organization that supplies to large OEM’s.
  • Previous audit experience, desired
  • Microsoft (Office, and Access) experience
  • Familiar with FAA/EASA/UKCAA/CCAR-145 regulations preferred
  • Communication – demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional work groups including suppliers, customers and associates, both verbally and in writing.  Excellent listening skills.

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Primarily moderate work, exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Regularly required to sit or stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach.
  • Continuous use of hands/fingers for handling, holding, grasping, turning, picking and pinching to hold product.
  • Regular use of vision to see objects at close range (20 inches or less) with occasional depth perception to objects where and as they actually are and adjustment of lens of eye to see object in sharp focus at varying close distances.
  • Must be able to pass a vision test per AMETEK standards and color vision required for duties.  
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of speaking, hearing or via other effective means of communication.
  • Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
  • The use of Safety Glasses is required.  Other PPE such as earplugs, gloves, masks, etc. are available, if necessary or desired for certain job functions.
  • Work performed in both an office and manufacturing shop environment.

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $90,000
Salary Maximum:  $120,000
