Job Description: 

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee and lead our production operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that manufacturing activities operate in a smooth and efficient manner through excellent planning, coordination, and supervision to meet site deliverables. In a fast-paced production environment, the supervisor is an integral member of the manufacturing team.  This person must be competent and comprehend complex operations and procedures.  In addition, the supervisor should also be able to optimize the day-to-day activities while driving a continous improvement culture to exceed on our safety, quality delivery and cost goals. 

 

This position will be part of our AMETEK PDS Business Unit and based in Binghamton, NY.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains product quality by establishing and enforcing strict organization standards.
  • Hold all team members fully accountable for their role in the final product in its quality and the efficiency with which it is produced.
  • Conduct regular audits of productivity and quality to identify any shortcomings and maintain the high standard your team adheres to.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to intercompany requests.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change as required.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree in technical, engineering OR a combination of higher education and a minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience in a relevant field of manufacturing
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) applications
  • Must be very knowledgeable in assembly sequences and methodologies for manual (hands-on) assembly systems.
  • Experience with PCBA assembly processes, environmental stress screening and unit level test processes is a plus.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Self-motivated with a data results driven approach; Proven creative and problem-solving ability with solid work ethic
  • Demonstrated success in organizational and team leadership; Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with engineering team members, finance, management up through Group President and customers.
  • Strong manufacturing background and experience in Lean/Six Sigma
  • Leads and designs lean manufacturing goals and strategies for improving processes
  • Manages all activities for continuous improvement and performance enhancements
  • Green belt training/certification a plus
