The Director - Business Controller is an essential member of the Amptek leadership team contributing to the development and execution of the business’s annual strategic plan.  

This position is a senior staff level role at an AMETEK Business, and the individual will play a key role in guiding the strategic direction and leading the efficient execution of activities to profitably grow the business. This position reports directly to the Amptek Business Manager and functionally to the DVP Business Unit Controller.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Drive the organization to achieve short- and long-term business objectives, including revenue growth, EBITDA performance, and working capital improvements
  • Support the development of the annual budget and long-term strategic plan
  • Partner with product management and R&D leaders to enhance product lifecycle planning and optimize R&D investment strategy

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Coordinate and perform monthly close activities, including all HFM updates
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Deliver forecast updates and perform analysis of actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior year

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, manage, and develop the local finance team
  • Support global subsidiaries in resolving major business and financial matters
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization

Compliance & Controls

  • Oversee SOX requirements and ensure audit compliance
  • Ensure accurate recording of revenue and expenses in accordance with ASC 606 and US GAAP
  • Maintain compliance with local statutory accounting practices

Systems & Process Oversight

  • Ensure ERP and financial systems strategy supports both current operations and long-term business needs

 

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred
  • Minimum of 9–10 years of accounting or finance experience
  • Prior supervisory experience required

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Experience with financial systems and reporting tools, including Excel, Word, Intuitive, QuickBooks, and Hyperion (reporting and query writing preferred)

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and geographies
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
