Role Overview
We are looking for a Test Engineer with an experience of 6 to 8 years, with a strong understanding of the electrical domain to perform manual testing of power-system products such as Digital Fault Recorders (DFRs), Energy Meters, and other protection and monitoring devices. The ideal candidate must be capable of performing safe and accurate electrical connections, validating electrical measurements, and analyzing derived power-system data such as voltage, current, power, frequency, phasors, phase group, and line group information.
This role involves hands-on testing, result validation, and close collaboration with firmware, hardware, and system engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manual Testing of Electrical Products:
- Validate correct functioning of data capture, event recording, and waveform accuracy.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing.
2. Electrical Setup, Wiring & Safety:
- Perform electrical connections for AC/DC inputs, CT/PT circuits, and testing equipment.
- Configure test benches using power sources and signal injectors.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.
3. Measurement & Data Validation:
- Measure and validate Voltage, Current, Power, Power Factor, Frequency, and Derived parameters.
- Compare results against expected values and industry standards.
4. Understanding of Power System Concepts:
- Understand Phase groups, Line groups, CT/PT ratios, power system faults.
- Interpret event logs, COMTRADE files, oscillography, and fault waveforms.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare detailed test reports, test cases, and defect documentation.
- Maintain traceability between requirements and test results.
6. Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Work with engineering teams to analyze issues and verify behavior.
- Support root-cause analysis.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Enhance testing processes and test coverage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Practical experience handling electrical testing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with Omicron or similar equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Digital Fault Recorders, PMUs, IEDs, or relays
