Job Description: 

Position Summary 
The Design Engineer (Tech Lead) is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for executing reverse engineering, design, analysis, prototyping, and validation activities. This role owns end-to-end delivery of engineering projects within scope, ensuring high-quality, timely completion in compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards. Work location Bangalore, India.  

 

Key Responsibilities 


Engineering Execution 

  • Independently execute complete reverse engineering and FAA-PMA development projects, including input analysis, dimensional/material characterization, design development, prototyping, validation, and final release.
  • Interpret technical specifications and define required engineering activities, deliverables, and documentation across all phases of development.
  • Perform hands-on metrology and reverse engineering using tools such as calipers, gauges, VMM, and 3D scanning to establish dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
  • Define and execute tests to determine material properties and validate functional and performance requirements. 

Design & Development 

  • Develop 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings, applying GD&T, DFM, tolerance stack-up analysis, and aerospace design principles (materials, loading, fatigue, corrosion).
  • Prepare and manage engineering documentation including BOMs, specifications, ATPs, qualification plans, and test reports.
  • Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, and AS9100 quality requirements. 

Project Ownership 

  • Plan, estimate, and manage personal deliverables to ensure timely completion of drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Coordinate design reviews and approvals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive sourcing activities including supplier interactions, RFQs, technical clarifications, and prototype  procurement. 

Validation & Manufacturing Support 

  • Lead verification and validation activities, including qualification and acceptance testing, ensuring compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse test results, resolve non-conformances, and implement corrective actions to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Provide hands-on support for prototyping, manufacturing, and first article inspection (FAI) activities.
  • Support NPD, OEM, and sustaining engineering efforts, including design improvements and issue resolution. 

Change Management & Governance 

  • Create and manage ECN/DCN, update drawings and BOMs, and ensure proper release in PDM/Vault systems.
  • Take ownership of technical decisions and drive issues to closure with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all deliverables are complete, compliant, and release ready.  

Position Requirements 


Education 

  • B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering 

Experience 

  • 8–14 years of hands-on experience in mechanical component and system-level design
  • End-to-end experience across the product development lifecycle (design to validation)
  • Strong practical expertise in GD&T and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and technical reviews.
  • Aerospace or safety-critical design experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to own technical decisions and execute independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Technical Skills 

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (2024+) or equivalent CAD tools, PDM/Vault, and MS Office
  • Strong understanding of metrology, manufacturing drawings, and validation processes (QTP/ATP)
  • Basic exposure to simulation and mechanical analysis
  • Good knowledge of materials, machining processes, plastics, and surface finishing
